The May 2019 StencilGirl StencilClub Stencil of the Month is a 3-stencil set which contains stencils in 3 sizes -- 9" x 12" and 6" x 6" and 4" x 4".   

The set was created exclusively for StencilGirl StencilClub Stencil of the Month.  Available nowhere else!  Details at the end of this post.

Below, I've used the 4" x 4" stencil from this month's 3-piece StencilGirl StencilClub set; and because this set is based on a script  version of the alphabet, I made today's first print over an old "found" paper that'd originally been printed with letters of the alphabet....

Today's post is filled with prints made with the 4" x 4" stencil from the May Stencil of the Month Set at StencilGirl's StencilClub, which comes in 3 sizes:  9" x 12" and 6" x 6" and 4" x 4".

This 3-stencil set was created exclusively for StencilGirl StencilClub Stencil of the Month.  Available nowhere else!  Details at the end of this post. 

In the photos below, take note of differences between prints that are easily achieved when the artist flips the stencil backward, forward, upside-down and right-side-up.  For all of this flipping, it helps to see these designs as abstract swirls, rather than trying to use them to depict the script alphabet that originally inspired their creation.     

Notice too, how the difference in backgrounds and paint colors work together to achieve more variety.

Today's post features art samples created with the 9" x 12" stencil from May's brand-new 3-stencil set created exclusively for StencilGirl StencilClub Stencil of the Month.  In some samples below, this stencil was used alone; in others, it was used in combination with other stencils or masks.

2 Collages Developed with May's StencilGirl StencilClub Set of the Month

Unique Stencil 3-Piece Set available thru StencilGirl StencilClub -- Nowhere Else! 

The collage shown below, created on stretched canvas, has just now been accepted into a juried art show at a local art gallery ...

My first step was to layer the entire canvas surface with prints using all three stencils from this month's set.

After developing those layers with multiple applications of acrylic paints, I added the collage papers that appear in the upper left quarter of the artwork.  

The collage papers came from old print-outs of similar designs which, like the 3-piece May Stencil of the Month set, were originally inspired by a script alphabet.

Below is a "sister" mixed-media collage, also on stretched canvas --

The above artwork is three-dimensional.  (In a future post, I'll be detailing how I create 3D elements like this orange-and-aqua oval -- an oval that's easier to see when you click on the above image to enlarge it.)

My May 2019 StencilGirl Stencil of the Month set was used in developing the layered background of this mixed-media collage.  Two of these background details are shown in close-ups are below:

Stencil Set of the Month for May, 2019

Unique Stencil 3-Piece Set available thru StencilGirl StencilClub -- Nowhere Else! 

I'm honored that this month's StencilGirl StencilClub Stencils -- a set of three -- is one that I've created.

The 6" x 6" stencil starts the alphabet with A thru E --

And the 4" x 4" stencil finishes the alphabet with X, Y and Z --

The 9 x 12" stencil holds the rest of the alphabet--

Because this stencil set is based on a script alphabet, I decided to use all three of its stencils on a series of 12" x 12" stretched canvases.  Each is titled Alphabet Soup; the series starts with Alphabet Soup I, and continues from there.

Besides using the three stencils together, as shown today, I've used them separately.  Those art samples will be posted here daily, starting tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by!
